Computer Science and Engineering
Dr. William G. Tanner, Jr., Chairperson
The objective of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering in the College of Science is to develop fully in our students their potential for excellence in Computer Science and Engineering. Through the efforts of a committed faculty who continually compares and aligns the curriculum with national standards, i.e. IEEE/ACM and ABET, the student receives a broad education in the fundamental theoretical principles and applied technical knowledge of Computer Science and Engineering. The ultimate goal of the Computer Science and Engineering Department is to prepare computer science and engineering professionals in a Christian environment for careers in industry, and government.
General Information
Students in this department can receive a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) or a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree upon successful completion of all requirements. Under the one major of Computer Science there are three specialization fields offered: i.e. Network-Centric, Human-Computer Interface Programming, and Games Programming. A minor in Computer Science is also available.
To graduate with a B.A. or a B.S. degree in the major offered by the CS Department, the student must have achieved a Grade Point Average (G.P.A.) in all major field courses of at least 2.50 and an overall G.P.A. of at least 2.25.
To certify to teach Computer Science, the student must have obtained a G.P.A. of at least 2.75 in the major or minor in Computer Science and an overall G.P.A. of at least 2.4.
