Purpose
The College of Education promotes quality educational opportunities in a variety of fields, with emphasis on high standards of academic excellence. The goal of the college is to promote the growth of moral and ethical leaders in all areas. The Department of Education offers undergraduate and post-baccalaureate educator preparation programs for Early Childhood through Grade 6, Grades 4-8, and Grades 7-12 English, math, sciences, and history. Also offered are programs for all-level art, music, physical education, Spanish, speech, and technology applications. All educator certification paths are endorsed by the Texas State Board for Educator Certification. The Department of Exercise and Sport Science offers majors in Exercise Physiology, Fitness and Wellness Promotion, Sport Management, and Pre-Physical Therapy, and Early Childhood through Grade 12 Physical Education, through selected and varied programs.
Programs within the College of Education are accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Students are encouraged in their professional endeavors by a faculty dedicated to modeling lifelong learning and fostering critical and creative thinking in professional interactions with others.
