Academic Standards
The courses/competencies in the CBE program are assigned semester credit hour values. The enrollment status of CBE students is determined based upon the total number of credit hour equivalents (CHE's) in which the students are enrolled at the beginning of each semester. 6 hours of enrollment per 7-week term is considered full-time
A student is considered to be in Academic Good Standing if he or she meets the minimum grade point average (GPA) of 2.0 at the end of the semester.
Academic Probation: A student failing to meet the minimum GPA of 2.0 during a semester is automatically placed on academic probation for the ensuing “long” semester. To be removed from academic probation, a student must achieve a term 2.0 GPA during the ensuing “long” semester. A student placed on academic probation must meet with their Student Success Coach to make an academic plan for their semester of probation.
Academic Suspension: A student who does not achieve a term GPA of 2.0 or better during the semester on probation will be placed on academic suspension. Students placed on academic suspension will be suspended for a minimum of one term. For example: A student placed on academic suspension at the end of the fall semester will not be allowed to re-enroll until the start of the spring B term.
After a student has completed the suspension period, the student will be required to comply with the regulations listed in the Academic Probation section above. The student must meet with their Student Success Coach to make an academic plan before being allowed to return from suspension.
A student may appeal academic suspension. A student who appeals academic suspension and has the suspension waived by the student’s academic Dean will be placed on probation by petition. The student will be required to adhere to an individualized academic action plan as determined by the student’s academic Dean or Student Success Coach. The student must successfully complete the ensuing “long” semester with a 2.0 or better.
A student who entered the University on academic probation must complete their course(s) successfully their first term or be dismissed from the program.
