Cybersecurity
Cybersecurity is the discipline that focuses on protection and integrity of digital information and information systems. Society relies on an array of global networks and information systems to communicate, run businesses and organization, and support critical infrastructures. Students majoring in cybersecurity are equipped for careers in virtually any industry as an IT professional who can assess cyber vulnerabilities, respond to cyber threats, and develop policies and procedures for maintaining cybersecurity.

UMHB is part of a consortium of colleges (LCMC) that offers shared online courses in growing professional subjects. UMHB is your home institution and a LCMC consortium college is the teaching institution for this course. Rize Education is the platform that enables UMHB to offer these courses. All Rize Education courses are online, and you can expect to meet students from other colleges, as the courses are shared across multiple institutions.
Students enrolled in this course should understand the following:
- The policies of the LCMC consortium teaching institution through Rize Education, rather than the policies of UMHB, will prevail in many areas, including but not limited to assignment and course grades, attendance requirements, academic integrity, disability accommodations, course assignment due dates, course schedules, academic appeals, and other grievance/complaint processes. - Rize Education courses operate on an academic calendar that is different from UMHB’s academic calendar. The teaching institutions through LCMC have a range of holiday and other break policies. Students enrolling in this course will be provided with information on how to submit a request to the teaching institution’s course instructor that UMHB holidays and breaks be honored when possible.
- Students who have obtained approved disability accommodations at UMHB will be required to complete additional steps through Rize Education to have disability accommodations approved for this course.
- Instructors in this course are not employees of UMHB and are not supervised by or subject to the discipline of UMHB. Instructors may or may not support UMHB’s Christian mission.
- This course will appear on your transcript and apply to your degree program as a UMHB course.
This course is NOT accessed within UMHB’s Canvas system. Once enrolled, you will not be able to access this course until you have received the email from support@rize.education.
- You will receive an email from support@rize.education when you have access to the course. If you do not receive an email before the start of the semester, please get in touch with support@rize.education immediately.
- The live class is optional but highly encouraged. Weekly assignments are not optional. You must complete assignments for this course by their due date each week, or you may be reported absent by the teaching institution.
