NURS 2150 Nursing Success

This course provides nursing students with practical tools and techniques to enhance time-management, study habits, test-taking skills, and overall well-being. Students will be introduced to medical terminology, the language of healthcare. Students will be equipped with the essential skills, strategies, and resources needed to excel academically and personally.

NURS 2200 Intro Professional Nursing Roles

This course provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the nursing profession’s historical, theoretical, ethical, and legal dimensions and introduces the concepts of nursing care of diverse populations and individuals. The role of the nurse as caregiver, advocate, educator, and leader within diverse healthcare settings will be explored. Students will have the opportunity to reflect upon professional nursing as a calling and a ministry. Students will gain insight into interprofessional collaboration, the decision-making process, and responsibilities inherent in professional nursing practice.

NURS 2260 Foundational Nursing Skills

This course serves as an introduction to foundational nursing skills, therapeutic communication techniques, and patient-centered care principles. Through experiences in the skills lab, simulation, and clinical environment, students will develop the necessary competencies to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care to individuals across the lifespan.

Prerequisite: Admission to the Nursing Program

NURS 2350 Health Assessment Across the Lifespan

This course prepares students with the knowledge and skills needed to conduct a comprehensive health assessment. Through experiences in the classroom, skills lab, simulation, and clinical environment, students will learn techniques to conduct holistic and focused assessments. Students will also develop skills for gathering a patient history and documenting findings. (Pre-req: Admission to the Nursing Program)

NURS 2460 Essentials in Nursing

This course provides a foundation for the student in basic nursing interventions integral to providing effective nursing care. Emphasis is placed on application of theory to practice in both simulated laboratory and clinical settings. The clinical component of this course focuses on the wellness aspect of the health continuum and the patient focus includes individual, families, and populations. Prerequisites include courses required for admission to the School of Nursing. Co-requisites: NURS 2350 and NURS 2460.
