RDCB 4326 Effective Literacy Instruction

Effective teachers know the importance of literacy for every student. This course equips candidates with tools to teach across the disciplines and with strategies for working with Emerging Bilinguals. It addresses the Science of Teaching Reading, including phonics, vocabulary development, word identification, reading fluency, and comprehension of narrative and expository text. Attention is given to writing as a learning tool in various content areas.  A connection between language arts and other content areas is emphasized.
